What are impressions, views and reach?
| Metric | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Impressions | Every time it hit a screen |
| Views | What Instagram reports now |
| Reach | Unique accounts that saw it |
Sprout Social, "How to Track Instagram Impressions in 2026," updated July 7, 2026.
Sprout's definitions: impressions "measured the total number of times your content appeared on someone's screen," and reach "only tracks the number of unique accounts that saw your content." Impressions counted repeat views from the same person.
Then the switch. Sprout says Instagram retired impressions in 2025, and "Today, views serve as the go-to metric for gauging how often audiences watch your content."
So an impressions package is named after a metric Instagram doesn't show anymore. Some sellers blur it further. PlanYourGram sells "Impressions / Reach" as one product, though the two didn't count the same thing.
Do bought impressions help a post?
Instagram's own explanation of ranking talks about actions. Its 2023 ranking post lists signals "like how many and how quickly other people are liking, commenting, sharing, and saving a post." For Reels, its most important predictions include how likely you are to "watch a reel all the way through."
An impression counted a post appearing on a screen, which is less than a watch all the way through. A bigger number mostly changes what you see in your Insights.
Is it safe to buy Instagram impressions?
None of the sellers in our table asked for a password, and you shouldn't give one. Meta's Spam policy, as Google shows it, lists "Attempting to or successfully selling, buying, or exchanging for engagement, such as likes, shares, views, follows, clicks, use of specific hashtags, etc." Views are on that list by name.
Viplikes says its impressions arrive at "an average speed of 50K impressions per day." A post that jumps that fast doesn't look like a normal day.
How do you get more views for free?
Views come from being shown to more people, and that follows the actions Instagram reads:
- Post things people save and share. Instagram names saves and shares as ranking signals.
- Use Reels. Instagram says Reels "are also designed to help you discover new things."
- Reply to comments. A conversation under a post is one of the actions Instagram reads.
- Post when your audience is online. Your Insights show when that is.
