Impressions
Impressions count how many times your content was shown on a screen.
Reach
Reach is the number of different people who saw your content at least once.
Watch hours
Watch hours are the total hours people have spent watching your channel's public videos.
CPM
CPM means cost per mille: the price of 1,000 impressions.
Click-through rate
Click-through rate is clicks divided by impressions.
Concurrent viewers
Concurrent viewers are the people watching a live stream at the same moment.
Monthly listeners
Monthly listeners is the big public number on a Spotify artist profile.
Story views
Story views count who watched a story slide during its 24-hour life.
Stream
A stream is one play of a track for at least 30 seconds.
Follower ratio
The follower ratio compares your followers to the number of accounts you follow.
Followers
A follower is an account that chose to see your content.
Subscribers
A subscriber is a follower by another name, except on Twitch, where a sub is a paying customer.
Likes
A like is the cheapest positive signal on any platform: one tap, no thought needed.
Comments
Comments are the expensive engagement: someone stopped scrolling, typed, and posted.
Views
A view is the loosest metric in social media, because every platform defines it differently.
Shares
A share is someone sending your content to a friend or posting it to their own audience.
Saves
A save is a bookmark: the viewer kept your post to look at again later.
Profile visits
Profile visits count how many people opened your profile page in a period.
Follower growth rate
Growth rate is how fast your follower count changes, usually written as a percentage per month.
Vanity metrics
A vanity metric is a number that feels like progress but changes no decision.
Ghost followers
Ghost followers follow you and never interact: no likes, no views, no comments, ever.
Audience retention
Audience retention is the graph showing what share of viewers is still watching your video at each second.
Watch time
Watch time is the total minutes and hours people spent watching your content.
Engagement
Engagement is the umbrella word for everything an audience does with your content: likes, comments, shares, saves, replies, taps.
Snap score
Snap score is Snapchat's activity number: a total that grows as you send and receive snaps, post stories and use the app.

Insights is Instagram's built-in analytics.

Reels
Reels are Instagram's short vertical videos, up to a few minutes long, built to compete with TikTok.
Shorts
Shorts are YouTube's vertical videos of up to 60 seconds, served in their own swipe feed.
Stories
Stories are full-screen posts that disappear after 24 hours.
Highlights
Highlights are saved stories pinned to your Instagram profile, sorted into named circles under your bio.
Duet
A duet puts your video side by side with someone else's original, both playing at once.
Stitch
A stitch takes up to five seconds of someone else's video and uses it as the opening of yours.
Live streaming
Live streaming is broadcasting video in real time, with chat running next to it.
Carousel
A carousel is one post containing several images or clips that viewers swipe through.
Bio link
The bio link is the one clickable URL your profile gets.
Handle
A handle is your @name: the unique address your account answers to.
Trending sounds
Trending sounds are the songs and audio clips thousands of TikTok videos adopt in the same week.
Reposts
A repost pushes someone else's post to your own audience, credited, in one tap.
Boosting
Boosting means paying the platform to show an existing post to more people: the Boost button on Instagram and Facebook is a mini ad campaign.
Telegram post views
Telegram post views are the eye-icon number under every channel post.
Reactions
Reactions are the like button widened into an emoji palette: hearts, fire, laughter, anger.
Facebook Page likes
Facebook Pages historically had two counts: likes (public endorsement) and followers (actually subscribed to posts).
Pre-save
A pre-save is the streaming world's pre-order: fans click a link before your song comes out, and on release day it lands in their Spotify library automatically.
Editorial playlist
Editorial playlists are the ones Spotify's own team curates: RapCaviar and thousands of siblings.
Spotify Wrapped
Wrapped is Spotify's December ritual: every listener gets a shareable year-in-review of their listening, and every artist gets a stats package of their year.
Raid
A raid sends your live audience to another channel when your stream ends: one command, and everyone lands in someone else's room together.
Clip
A clip is a short highlight cut from a live stream.

Content pillars are the three to five themes an account commits to posting about, on repeat.

Hashtags label content into searchable topics.
UGC
UGC means user-generated content: material made by users and customers instead of the brand itself.
Influencer marketing
Influencer marketing is advertising through people instead of ad slots: brands pay creators to present products inside their own content and credibility.

Refill

Retention is how much of a delivery is still there after time passes: of 1,000 followers added this month, how many are still following next month.

A follower drop is a visible fall in your count.
Bot followers
Bot followers are automated accounts: profiles created and run by software, in bulk, to be sold as follower counts.
High-quality followers
High-quality, in delivery grading, means follower stock built from complete, believable profiles: photo, bio, posts, normal ratios.
Geo-targeted followers
Geo-targeted followers are delivered from a chosen country or region: a Berlin café buying German followers instead of a worldwide mix.
Growth service
A growth service delivers social media numbers to order: followers, likes, views and their siblings, bought for a public handle or link.
Reseller
A reseller buys delivery services wholesale and sells them retail under their own brand, usually ordering through an API instead of a storefront.
Start time
Start time is the gap between paying and the first units arriving: the "0-1 hours" line on a service listing.
Non-drop
Non-drop is a service label promising delivered units that don't fall off afterwards.
Lifetime guarantee
A lifetime guarantee promises refills on dropped units forever.
Partial
Partial is the order status for honest incompleteness: delivery stopped short of the full amount, and the undelivered remainder is refunded.
White label
White label means reselling with the labels swapped: one company's service sold under another company's brand, with the customer none the wiser.
Overdelivery
Overdelivery is receiving more than you ordered: 1,000 bought, 1,080 delivered.

Monetisation means turning an audience into income, and every route is one of three shapes: the platform pays you (ad shares, funds), your audience pays you (subs, gifts, products), or brands pay you (deals).
YouTube Partner Programme
The Partner Programme (YPP) is YouTube's monetisation deal: ads run on your videos and you get a share.
Twitch Affiliate
Affiliate is Twitch's first money tier: subscriptions, Bits and ads switch on once a channel clears four bars in the same rolling 30 days: 50 followers, 500 minutes streamed, 7 different streaming days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers.
Creator fund
A creator fund is a fixed pot of platform money split among eligible creators by performance.
Brand deal
A brand deal is paid partnership: a company pays a creator to feature its product inside the creator's own content.
Media kit
A media kit is a creator's sales document: one clean page saying who the audience is, what the numbers are, and what placements cost.
Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing pays you commission on tracked sales: you recommend a product, your link or code records who bought, and a percentage lands with you.
Bits
Bits are Twitch's tipping currency: viewers buy them from Twitch, then spend them cheering in your chat, and you receive one cent per bit.
Super Chat
Super Chat is YouTube's paid chat highlight: during a live stream, a viewer pays to pin their message, coloured and sized by the amount.
TikTok gifts
TikTok gifts are the animated tips of TikTok LIVE: viewers buy Coins with real money, spend Coins on gifts during streams, and the creator receives Diamonds, which cash out at roughly half the coin value spent.
RPM
RPM is revenue per mille: what you actually earn per 1,000 views, after the platform's cut and after views without ads are averaged in.
Creator economy
The creator economy is the market built on individuals with audiences: the creators, the platforms paying and renting them, the brands buying access, and the tool industry serving all three.

Shadowban
A shadowban is a reach restriction applied without telling you: your account works, your followers mostly still see you, but discovery surfaces stop carrying your content and reach falls off a cliff.
Action block
An action block is Instagram's rate-limit penalty: a temporary ban on one specific action, like following, liking or commenting, handed out when your account does it at bot speed.
Verification badge
The verification badge is the platform's checkmark next to a name, and its meaning has split: once purely proof that a notable identity was confirmed, it is now, on X and Meta platforms, also something a monthly subscription buys.
Telegram members
Telegram counts people under two names: groups have members, channels have subscribers.
For You page
The For You page is TikTok's default feed: a stream picked per viewer by the recommendation system, mostly from accounts they DON'T follow.
Explore page
Explore is Instagram's discovery surface: a grid built per viewer from accounts they don't follow, seeded by what they've engaged with before.
Rate limit
A rate limit caps how often an account may do something in a time window: so many follows per hour, so many DMs per day.
Purge
A purge is a platform's mass removal of accounts it classified as fake or dead.
Suspension
A suspension takes an account out of service: locked, hidden or deleted, temporarily or permanently, for rule violations or tripped detection.
Strike
A strike is a formal penalty point for a policy violation, counted toward termination.
Community guidelines
Community guidelines are a platform's published rules for what may be posted and done: the constitution its penalties enforce.
Phishing
Phishing is credential theft by imitation: fake login pages, fake support messages, fake services whose real product is your password.
Terms of service
The terms of service are the contract your account operates under, and on growth they converge: every major platform prohibits inauthentic engagement in its text.
