Do You Need Your Password to Buy Followers?

No. A follower order needs only your public username, and an order for likes or views needs a link to the post. The services that ask for your password want it for something else: to log in as you and follow, like or message people from your account. Kicksta's FAQ asks "Does Kicksta need my Instagram password?" and answers "Yes." Upleap's terms say "We require the Customer's username and password."
Quick Answer: You don't need a password to buy followers, likes or views. Growth subscriptions that work from inside your account ask for one, and both Kicksta's and Upleap's terms say you consent to logins "from one of Our hubs, which may be in a different geographical region." If you've already shared a login, Instagram's own advice is to "simply change your password to revoke their access to your account."

Plixi's homepage promises "no passwords," and its setup starts "After connecting your Instagram account," by its pricing page. So it still links to your account another way. Zefoy says it "does not ask for social media passwords, verification codes, recovery codes, private tokens, or account credentials." One shop shows how mixed the messages get. iDigic's trial page tells you to download an app and "sign into your Instagram account." The same page says that to "give them your IG password" is something "only a scammer would ask for."
Why do some services need it?
Because they act from your account. "Kicksta follows and engages with the people behind them," its pricing page says, and its targeted growth "Needs your Instagram login." Upleap "automatically interacts with targeted Instagram users on your behalf," with "Follow/Unfollow Automation" and "Welcome DM Automation" in every plan. Neither can do that if it can't log in as you.
Instagram has a line on this kind of service. In 2018 it said it would begin "removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity." Its help center, as Google shows it, also lists "automating access" without its permission among the things its terms don't allow. Since the actions come from your account, it's your account that carries the risk.
What should you do if you already gave your password?
- Change your Instagram password. That's Instagram's own fix: changing it revokes the app's access.
- Turn on two-factor authentication, so a saved password alone isn't enough to log in.
- Cancel the subscription properly. Upleap's terms ask for notice "at least 24 hours before the end of the Customer's current billing cycle," and say that turning off the interactions on your dashboard "does not cancel the subscription and related charges."
- Use a new password everywhere you reused the old one.
How does an order work without a password?
You give a public username, or a link to the post for likes and views, and the order goes to that address. You don't give a password, and nothing logs in.
