Snapchat Score: How It Works and How to Increase It
Your Snapchat score counts Snaps sent and received and Stories posted, not chats. How to raise it, what doesn't count, and why score-boost sites are a risk.
Your Snapchat score rises when you send and open Snaps and post Stories. Snapchat Support says the score "is determined by a super-secret, special equation that combines the number of Snaps you've sent and received, the Stories you've posted," plus a few other things. So the way to increase it is to snap more, to more people, and post Stories. Chats don't count. JoinOtto's February 2026 guide says "Text messages do NOT increase your score."
We read Snapchat's support page and the guides as Google shows them on October 23, 2026. We didn't test this on an account.

HypeAuditor's 2025 guide lists "Sending Snaps," "Receiving Snaps" and "Posting Stories" as the parts that add points. TheJournal.ie found years ago that "texts sent or received and viewing stories aren't counted." Snapchat itself only calls the rest "other" factors, so nobody outside Snap knows the full formula.
How do you increase your Snapchat score?
- Send photo and video Snaps. Each one adds to the count.
- Open the Snaps you get. Receiving counts once you open them.
- Post to your Story. Stories count, chats don't.
- Keep streaks going. Socialtradia's July 2026 guide calls streaks "one of the most reliable ways to grow your score," since you snap the same people daily.
- Snap more friends. More friends means more Snaps going back and forth.
There's no shortcut inside the app. "How to get snapchat score up fast" gets about 1,000 searches a month, up 30%, and the fast answers are where the risk sits.
Are Snapchat score boost sites safe?
Treat them as a risk. Snapchat's own topic pages describe tutorials that send people to "a third-party website" to enter a username, including one site by name. A Reddit thread from 2022 suggested joining "spam groups" to trade Snaps for score. Snap's Community Guidelines say "We prohibit spam, including pay-for-follower promotions or other follower-growth schemes, the promotion of spam applications." A site that asks for your login, or a group that floods you with Snaps, puts the account itself at stake.
Snap doesn't say the score changes who sees your Snaps, so it isn't worth risking the account over.
What is a good Snapchat score?
There's no official benchmark, because Snap doesn't publish averages. A score only reflects how much you've snapped over time, so a new account starts low and an old, active one runs high. Snapchat's topic page breaks one example down: a score of 3,736 "calculated from 2,364 snaps sent or viewed, 1,327 received, and 45 added to stories."
