LinkedIn Banner Size: 1584 x 396 Pixels
LinkedIn's own sizes: a profile banner is 1584 x 396 pixels, JPG or PNG under 8MB. Company Page covers, logos, photos, event and post images too.
The LinkedIn banner, which LinkedIn now calls a cover image, should be 1584 x 396 pixels. LinkedIn's help center lists the rules as "JPG or PNG file," "Lesser than 8MB" and "1584 (w) x 396 (h) pixels (recommended)." Company Pages use a different size, 1512 x 256 pixels, with a 3MB limit.
We read LinkedIn's help pages on profiles, Pages and events on October 24, 2026. Every size below comes from them unless we say otherwise.
About 74,000 people search "linkedin banner" each month, and 49,500 search "linkedin banner size."

The banner's a wide 4:1 strip, so a photo cut from a normal camera frame loses most of its height. Crop to 1584 x 396 before you upload, and you'll see what LinkedIn will show.
How do you add or change your LinkedIn banner?
On desktop, LinkedIn's steps are:
- Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
- Click View Profile.
- Click the Camera icon in the upper-right corner of your introduction section.
- Upload a photo, or pick one of LinkedIn's images.
- Crop, filter or reposition it, then click Apply.
On the app, tap your profile photo, tap it again to open your profile, then tap the Camera icon on the introduction section. Upload or choose an image, adjust it and tap Save.
When you want to swap or delete it later, you'll find the Edit icon on the banner itself. LinkedIn's menu there offers "Change photo" and "Delete photo."
Why does your LinkedIn banner look cropped?
Because it's resized for each screen. "How your image appears may change based on the size of your web browser window and screen resolution," LinkedIn says. Your profile photo also covers part of it, since the banner "appears behind your profile photo in the introduction section."
So keep faces and text toward the middle. For Company Pages, LinkedIn's advice is direct: "place key details away from the edges of your cover photo, especially in the lower-right corner." It also recommends "a high-quality image with limited text."
One more surprise: when you go live on LinkedIn Live, "the cover image will automatically change to display the live stream." It'll switch back after the stream ends.
Why is your LinkedIn banner blurry?
Usually the file's too small or too compressed. LinkedIn's fix: "choose an image with a larger file size." It adds that "Photos will also look better than images with logos."
If a sharp image still looks soft, LinkedIn suggests a compression tool such as Trimage for Windows or ImageOptim for Mac before uploading. Stay under the 8MB limit for a profile and 3MB for a Page.
Can you use a slideshow banner?
Only with Premium. LinkedIn lists "Create Slideshow" as a "LinkedIn Premium feature available for Premium Business, Recruiter Lite, Sales Navigator Core, Premium Pages, and LinkedIn Learning." On Company Pages, "The dynamic cover image slideshow is available with a Premium Company Page subscription."
What size should a LinkedIn post image be?
For link previews in Page posts, LinkedIn says to "Use a 1.91:1 ratio (1200 x 627 pixels)," and images under 200 pixels wide shrink to a thumbnail. For photo posts, LinkedIn says "The image will be enlarged to fit the feed," and "Images on mobile won't be cropped."
LinkedIn doesn't publish one best size for photo posts in the pages we read. Jan van Musscher's 2026 guide on LinkedIn recommends 1080 x 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait, because "It takes up the most space in the mobile feed."
What makes a good LinkedIn banner?
Start with LinkedIn's own advice: a real photo, a high-quality file and very little text. Then make it yours. A photo of your workplace, your city or your work in progress says more than a stock gradient. If you add a line of text, make it one short sentence about what you do, and keep it away from the corner your profile photo covers.
For a Company Page, your logo already sits in its own square, so the cover doesn't need it again.
