LinkedIn also stops suggesting you to each other in People You May Know.

What can a blocked person still see?

Anything you've made public. A blocked member "may still see information you make public, such as your public profile, content posted in public (open) group discussions, your own public shares, and comments on Top Voices posts," LinkedIn says.

So if you want to disappear from them fully, tighten your public profile too. LinkedIn suggests hiding the public version of your profile, hiding your photo, and changing who can send you invitations.

Can you block someone without them knowing you visited?

You have to open their profile to block them, which normally puts you in their "Who's Viewed Your Profile" list. Switch to private mode first.

Go to Settings & Privacy, click Visibility, then "Visibility when viewing other profiles," and pick Private mode. You'll then appear only as "LinkedIn Member - This person is viewing profiles in private mode," LinkedIn says. Block them, then switch back if you like.

One trade-off: on a free account, browsing in private mode hides your own viewer list. LinkedIn says only Premium members can browse privately and still see who viewed them "in the last 90 days."

How do you unblock someone on LinkedIn?

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your homepage.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy.
  3. In the Visibility section, select Blocking under "Visibility of your profile & network."
  4. Find their name and click Unblock.

In the app, tap your profile picture, then Settings, then Visibility, then Blocking.

Think before you unblock. "You'll have to wait 48 hours before re-blocking the same member after unblocking," LinkedIn says. And their old recommendations won't come back: "recommendations from a member you blocked cannot be reinstated if you unblock them."

Are there limits on blocking?

A few, by LinkedIn's own notes:

  • "There is no limit to how many members you can block."
  • If you've blocked "more than 2000 members, you may not be able to unblock someone" without contacting support.
  • Group members can't block a group's admins. To block a manager, leave the group first.
  • "You can't block private mode viewers of your profile at this time."
  • If you share a LinkedIn Recruiter account with the person, LinkedIn may tell them about the block.
  • If you're both admins of the same Page, you'll still see each other's name and admin role in the Page admin view.

Why can't you find someone to block?

LinkedIn lists four reasons a profile may be missing. They may have hibernated their profile, been removed for abusive behavior, closed their account, or "Blocked you."
