How to Add Your Resume to LinkedIn

Add a resume or CV to LinkedIn for job applications, in Easy Apply or on your profile. LinkedIn's own steps, file rules and the recruiter-sharing setting.

You can add a resume or CV to LinkedIn in three places. Store it for job applications under Jobs, then Preferences, then "Resumes and application data." Attach one while you apply with Easy Apply. Or show it on your profile in the Featured section. "We'll store your four most recently uploaded resumes on LinkedIn," LinkedIn says, so you can reuse them.

We read LinkedIn's help pages on resumes, Featured samples and profile PDFs on October 24, 2026.

About 22,200 people search "how to add resume to linkedin" each month, and another 22,200 search "how to add cv to linkedin."

Pick the first two if you're job hunting quietly. The profile route is public, and LinkedIn says a resume shown there can't be used to apply: "You won't be able to use the resume uploaded to your profile for job applications."

How do you save a resume for job applications?

  1. Go to the Jobs tab.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click "Resumes and application data."
  4. Click Upload resume and pick your file.

You can also reach the same list from the Job Application Settings page. LinkedIn keeps your four most recent uploads there, ready for your next Easy Apply.

How do you attach a resume in Easy Apply?

Search for a job and open it. Click Easy Apply, fill in the required fields, and under "Resume (optional)" select Upload resume. Then submit.

Check the file first. "We recommend a file size less than 2MB and the file format must be either Microsoft Word or PDF," LinkedIn says. Attach it before you send, too. "If you've submitted your application without a resume attached, you can't reopen your application to attach your resume or reapply for the same job post."

If a job shows Apply instead of Easy Apply, LinkedIn sends you to the company's own site, and you'll upload your resume there.

How do you add a resume to your LinkedIn profile?

Use the Featured section, which takes uploaded "documents, presentations, and videos." On desktop:

  1. Click the Me icon, then View Profile.
  2. Click "Add profile section" in your introduction section.
  3. Open the Recommended dropdown and click "Add Featured."
  4. Click the Add icon and choose to upload media.
  5. Pick your resume file, add a title and save.

In the app, tap your profile photo, then View profile. Tap Add section, then Recommended, then "Add featured."

Think before you do this. "Viewers will have the option to download it directly from your profile page," LinkedIn says, and that includes your current employer. Leave your phone number and home address off a public copy.

How do you turn your LinkedIn profile into a resume?

Use Save to PDF. On desktop, open your profile, click the More or Resources button in your introduction section, and select Save to PDF. The PDF comes out in a resume layout.

It has limits. "This feature is not available on the LinkedIn mobile app," and profiles "must be in English," LinkedIn says. You're also capped at "200 PDF downloads per month," counting other people's profiles.

LinkedIn also has a Resume Builder, but LinkedIn notes it's "not currently available to all LinkedIn members."

Can recruiters see your resume?

Partly, and it's switched on for you after you apply. "After applying for a job on LinkedIn, you'll be presented with a prompt to share your resume data with all recruiters, and the Share resume data with recruiters toggle will be turned on," LinkedIn says.

With it on, your profile can show up when recruiters search for skills found in "resumes that you've saved over the past 2 years." They don't get the file itself. "Recruiters will not have access to your full resume unless you provide it to them directly, including by applying for a job."

LinkedIn tries to hide your sharing from recruiters at your own company, but it adds, "we can't guarantee complete privacy." To turn it off, go to Jobs, then Preferences, then "Resumes and application data," and switch off "Share resume data with recruiters." The feature is "available only in English."

To delete a stored resume, open the same page, click the three dots next to it and select Delete. Applications you already sent keep their copy.
