Post on LinkedIn from the share box or the app, pick who sees it, schedule it up to 3 months ahead, repost, and stay under the 3,000-character limit.

To post on LinkedIn, click Start a post at the top of your homepage, or tap Post in the app. Write your post, add a photo, video, document or poll if you like, choose who can see it and who can comment, then click Post. Posts "can contain up to 3,000 characters," LinkedIn says. Anything longer works better as an article.

We read LinkedIn's help pages on posting on October 24, 2026.

About 5,400 people search "how to post on linkedin" each month. Another 1,300 search for the character limit, up 23% in recent months.

  1. Click Start a post at the top of your homepage.
  2. Click the dropdown by your name. Choose who can see the post (Anyone, Connections only or Group) and who can comment (Anyone, Connections only or Off). The Brand Partnership toggle labels the post as a brand partnership.
  3. Write your post. You can add emojis, a photo or video, an event or a celebration. The plus icon adds a hiring post, a poll or a document.
  4. Click Post, or click the clock icon to schedule it.

LinkedIn Help, "Visibility of shared posts," read October 24, 2026.

Choose before you post. "You can't change the visibility option after you've shared your post," LinkedIn says. Whatever you pick becomes your default for the next one.

How do you schedule a LinkedIn post?

While writing, click the clock icon. Pick a date and time "between 10 minutes and 3 months from the current time," click Next, then Schedule. LinkedIn converts the time to UTC from your device's time zone.

Two kinds of post can't be scheduled: events and jobs. To see or change your queue, click Start a post, then the clock icon, then View all scheduled posts.

How do you save a LinkedIn post as a draft?

Click Cancel while you're writing, then Save as draft. Drafts sync across your devices, and your draft opens again the next time you start a post. Photos and videos in a draft can't be edited, though. To change one, delete it and upload it again.

How do you repost on LinkedIn?

Click Repost under the post. Choose Repost with your thoughts to add a comment, or Repost to share it as it is. "You can now repost something that has already been reposted," LinkedIn adds. To share a post privately, click Send.

Changed your mind? Open the More menu at the top right of your repost and select Delete post.

How long can a LinkedIn post be?

Up to 3,000 characters. Past that, LinkedIn points you to its Publishing Platform: "If your post exceeds 3000 characters, you can instead write an article."

Why is LinkedIn limiting your posts?

LinkedIn caps how often some members and Pages can post. Its limits "may vary depending on behavioral and authenticity signals," such as how many members block the profile and whether it's verified. "If we detect excessive post creation that indicates inauthentic activity, or the use of an automation tool, we may limit the visibility of those posts," LinkedIn says.

Verifying your profile can help, or you can try again later. For Pages, LinkedIn suggests verifying the Page and its admins.
