How to Change Your Email on Instagram, and Your Phone Number

To change your email on Instagram, go to your profile, open the menu and tap Accounts Center. Then tap Personal details, then Contact info, and add your new email. Instagram sends a code to confirm it, and after that you can remove the old address. Your phone number works the same way. Neither one is public: "Mobile numbers and email addresses are always private on your Instagram accounts," Instagram's Help Center says.

How do you change your email on Instagram?

1. Go to your profile. "Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile," the Help Center says.
2. Open the menu, then Accounts Center. Some versions call it Meta Account.
3. Tap Personal details, then Contact info.
4. Tap Add new contact and choose email address. A Reddit answer gives the same path: "Personal Details -> Contact Info -> 'Add new contact'."
5. Enter the new email and confirm it with the code Instagram sends.
6. Remove the old email, if you don't want it on the account anymore.

The Help Center's page title sums it up: "Update your email & other personal information in Accounts Center."

How do you change your phone number on Instagram?

The same way. In Contact info, add the new number, confirm it with the code that's texted to you, then remove the old one. "You can remove a confirmed mobile number or email address" from your account, the Help Center says.

What if you can't log in to change it?

Instagram has a page for that: "Can't access Instagram to change email or phone number." Its steps start on the login screen:

1. "Open the Instagram app, then at the bottom, tap Forgot password?"
2. "Enter your username, then tap Continue."
3. Follow the steps Instagram shows you to get back in.
