"How to change instagram password" gets about 33,100 searches a month.
How do you change your Instagram password?
- Go to your profile. "Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile," the Help Center says.
- Open the menu, then Accounts Center.
- Tap Password and security.
- Tap Change password. Pick the account if you have more than one.
- Enter your current password and your new one, then save.
Pick a strong one. "To create a strong password, use a combination of at least 6 numbers, letters and punctuation marks," the Help Center says. An Instagram security reel from May 2026 goes further and suggests 12 or more characters, with a different password for every account.
How do you reset a forgotten Instagram password?
You don't need the old one. On the login screen, tap Forgot password, or open instagram.com/accounts/password/reset in a browser. Enter your email address, phone number or username, and follow the steps Instagram sends you.
To update the email the reset goes to, see how to change your email on Instagram. If you can't get back in at all, or someone else changed your password, our guide to an Instagram account that's been hacked covers the recovery routes.
Does changing your password log you out everywhere?
Not on its own. "Changing your Instagram password doesn't automatically log everyone out unless you choose the 'log out of all devices' option," a Facebook help answer says.
To check, go back to Password and security and tap Where you're logged in. The Help Center says it lets you "view your recent" logins. From there, you can log out of devices you don't recognize.
| Step | Where |
|---|---|
| Change your password | Password and security |
| Check your logins | Where you're logged in |
| Log out of the rest | Where you're logged in |

Can you see your Instagram password?
Not inside Instagram. "Instagram never displays your actual password directly," an August 2026 YouTube guide says. If you saved it on your phone, though, it may be there. Instagram's topic page says that if you used Google Password Manager on Android or iPhone Keychain on iOS, "you can view it through your device settings." Google's passwords.google.com lists passwords saved in Android or Chrome.
"How to see your instagram password" gets about 5,400 searches a month.
Never hand your password to a growth app
Apps that ask for your login get your whole account, and that's when a password change matters most. If you've given your login to an app before, change your password and log out of all devices. On Facebook, see how to change your Facebook password. Hclout's orders and free tier need a public link and an email, and no password. Its free tier gives 12 free Instagram likes on a public post, on the free page. A short Cloudflare check runs before each claim.
