How to Download Pinterest Videos and Images
Download Pinterest images from a Pin's menu, and video Pins when the creator allows it, with their watermark. Plus Pinterest's own rules on copyright.
To download a Pinterest image, open the Pin, click the three-dot menu and choose Download image. Videos work differently. You can download a full-screen video Pin only if its creator has turned on Video Pin downloads, and the file comes with the creator's username as a watermark. Whatever you save, Pinterest says "permission to use a given image or video that you find on Pinterest should be sought from its copyright holder."

How do you download an image from Pinterest?
On a computer, select the Pin, click the three-dot menu and click Download image. You can also do it from your home feed. Click the three-dot menu at the bottom right of the image and choose Download image.
On your phone, tap the Pin, tap the three-dot menu, then tap Download image.
Downloads "are usually saved to your device's default Downloads folder or Photos app," Pinterest says.
Why can't you download a Pin?
"Not all Pins can be downloaded," Pinterest warns. If Download image is missing, try the three-dot menu under the Pin in your home feed, or try downloading it in a desktop or mobile browser.
If you tapped Download image and nothing saved, Pinterest's checklist is short:
- Close and reopen the Pinterest app, then try again.
- Make sure your device has enough storage.
- Check that Pinterest has permission to save photos.
- Update the app.
Can you download videos from Pinterest?
Sometimes. Pinterest leaves it to the creator. "You can choose whether people on Pinterest can download your full-screen video Pins," its help page tells creators. When a creator turns it on:
- It covers "full-screen (or 9:16) video Pins" only.
- Each download carries "a watermark of your username" at the bottom.
- It applies to all of that creator's published full-screen video Pins.
So if a video Pin shows no download option, the creator probably hasn't allowed it, or it isn't a full-screen video.
How do you let people download your video Pins?
On a computer, click the more-options icon at the bottom left, then Settings, then Social permissions. Switch on Video Pin downloads and click Save.
In the app, tap your profile picture at the bottom right, then your profile photo at the top left. Open Social permissions (newer versions say Social permissions and activity) and switch on Video Pin downloads. On a business account, tap your profile photo, then the three-dot menu at the top right to reach your settings.
Can you download a whole board?
As a short video, yes. Pinterest turns a board into a video you can share to Instagram Stories or download. It has a few limits:

What about Pinterest video downloader sites?
Pinterest's help center describes no tool for downloading videos that creators haven't opened up. Downloader sites ask you to paste a Pin's link and hand back the file. Before you use one, keep two things in mind.
Pinterest can't tell you who owns a Pin. It "does not have any information about who owns the copyright of a given Pin," so asking permission is on you.
Pinterest's own video downloads come with the creator's username. A tool that strips it removes the credit Pinterest attaches to every allowed download.
What's the difference between saving and downloading?
"Saving a Pin adds the Pin to one of your boards," Pinterest says. Downloading puts a copy on your device. Saving is always open to you, and it keeps the creator's link attached.
