How to Get Verified on Instagram in 2026: Free or Paid
Two ways to the blue check: request it free if you're notable, or pay for Meta Verified or Meta One from $11.99 to $14.99 a month. The rules and the steps.
There are two ways to get verified on Instagram. You can request the badge free, which works only if you're notable, meaning you're "featured in multiple news sources." Or you can pay. Meta Verified lists $11.99 a month on the web for creators, and on September 15, 2026, Meta added Meta One business and creator plans from $14.99 a month that include "a verified badge." Both paid routes still check your ID first. Follower counts don't decide either one.

How do you request verification for free?
- Log in to the account. The Help Center says "Make sure you're logged in to the account you're requesting a verified badge for."
- Go to your profile. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right.
- Open Settings. Then find Request verification under your account settings.
- Fill in the form. Meta's business lesson says to "Enter your full name" and complete the rest, including links to coverage.
- Send it. Instagram reviews it and tells you the result.
Instagram's checklist has four parts. Accounts must be authentic, unique, complete and notable. "Authentic" means you "Represent a real person, registered business or entity." "Unique" means the account is "the unique presence of the person or business." Notable is the hard one: "Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched for person, brand or entity." Instagram also says it doesn't "consider paid or promotional content as sources for review."
How much does Meta Verified cost?
Meta's page says Meta Verified is "generally available in most regions for USD $11.99" a month when you subscribe on the web. Guides from 2026 put the in-app price at $14.99 a month in the US. Stackinfluence's January 2026 guide gives both: "$14.99/month in the Instagram app or $11.99/month on the web (US)."
To subscribe, Meta's page says you "must be logged into your personal or professional creator account." The Help Center lists what it adds: a "Verified badge," "Impersonation protection" and "Enhanced support (chat and email support)."
What is Meta One, and does it include verification?
Meta One is Meta's new subscription family, launched on September 15, 2026. Its business and creator plans include the badge.

Meta's post says Essential includes "a verified badge, verified channel on WhatsApp Business app, and impersonation protection," with the note "(pending successful verification)." So you still have to pass the ID check. Advanced adds tools like "scheduling stories up to 30 days in advance" and "links in organic posts and reels."
How many followers do you need to get verified on Instagram?
No set number. The free route rests on news coverage, and the paid routes rest on your ID. Buying followers won't change either review. Our page on getting verified with bought followers covers that question in more detail.
Searches for "how to get verified on instagram" rose 40% in Keyword Planner's latest three months, and so did "how to get blue tick on instagram." That demand brings scams too. Meta sells its own plans in its apps and on its website, so treat any outside seller of a blue check as a fake.
