How to Get Verified on TikTok: The Free Badge, Explained

To get verified on TikTok, open the app and go to Profile, then Menu, Settings and privacy, Account, and Verification, and send the request. TikTok's own page gives that path. The badge is free, and followers don't earn it. TikTok Support says "We don't consider the number of followers or likes on an account when granting a verified badge." What counts is whether the account is "active, authentic, notable, and unique," and notable means real news coverage.

We read TikTok's support and legal pages and the guides as Google shows them on October 23, 2026. We didn't apply for a badge.

How do you apply for TikTok verification?

1. Open your profile. Tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Open the menu. TikTok's steps say "Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy."
3. Tap Account. Then tap Verification.
4. Fill in the request. Add your details and links to coverage about you.
5. Send it and wait. TikTok reviews it and tells you the result.

TikTok's legal page puts it in one line: "Profile > Menu > Settings and privacy > Account > Verification."

Notability is the hard part. TikTok doesn't count press releases, and "Sponsored or paid media, social media posts" don't count either, its support page says. A Reddit thread from April 2026 quotes the security rule too: "Your account must have 2-step verification with a verified email."

Shopify's 2024 guide sums up TikTok's view in three words: accounts must be "complete, notable, and secure."

How many followers do you need to get verified on TikTok?

None in particular. TikTok says it doesn't look at follower or like counts at all. That rules out buying your way to a badge, too. Followers from any source, Hclout's included, won't move the review. Coverage from real news outlets will.

A verified badge, TikTok has said, means "TikTok has confirmed the account belongs to the user it represents," as USA Today quoted in 2022. It's a check of identity, which is why fame elsewhere matters more than numbers on TikTok.

Can you buy TikTok verification?

No. TikTok doesn't sell the badge, and searches for "can you buy tiktok verification" rose 40% in Keyword Planner's latest three months. That demand draws scammers. Anyone offering a blue check for a fee is selling something TikTok gives away free to people who qualify. TikTok can also take a badge away. Identity Music's help page notes "TikTok may remove a blue verified badge at any time and without notice."

Business accounts have a separate track. TikTok's ads help covers business verification inside TikTok Business Center, which confirms a company for advertising and isn't the blue check.

What should you do while you wait?

Keep posting and keep your account secure. Turn on 2-step verification first, since it's required. Then build the kind of coverage TikTok counts, such as news stories and interviews.

If you'd like more people watching your videos meanwhile, Hclout's free tier gives 25 free TikTok likes or 100 free TikTok views with no password, on the free page. A short Cloudflare check runs before each claim. For Instagram's rules, see our page on getting verified with bought followers.
