How to Change Your Age on TikTok: You Need Support

TikTok won't let you edit your birthdate in settings. Ask support through its feedback form, send ID if asked, or appeal an underage ban. The rules by age.

You can't change your age on TikTok yourself. There's no birthday field to edit in settings, so you have to ask TikTok to fix it. OneStream's February 2026 guide says "You cannot change your age directly in TikTok's settings." TikTok's own feedback form has a topic for it, called "Change date of birth." Expect to prove your real age, often with a photo ID. Business Insider reported that TikTok removed the ability to change your birthday in 2021, when it made accounts under 16 private.

We read TikTok's support and safety pages and the guides as Google shows them on October 23, 2026. We didn't change an age on an account.

How do you change your age on TikTok?

  1. Open TikTok's feedback form. It's on TikTok's site, or in the app under Settings and privacy and Report a problem.
  2. Pick the topic. The form lists "Change date of birth" under account topics.
  3. Explain the mistake. Give your real birthdate and say why it's wrong.
  4. Send ID if asked. Spikerz's guide says TikTok will "require a valid ID, such as a driver's license, to verify your actual date of birth."
  5. Wait for the answer. TikTok tells you its decision.

A Reddit user in November 2025 got only a "generic response saying my birthday has already been verified." So if a birthdate was checked once, support may refuse to change it.

TikTok's youth safety page says "You need to be at least 13 years old to create a TikTok account," and that "In some places, the minimum age may be different based on local laws." In the US, younger children get a separate experience. Several features also wait for adulthood. TikTok says you "must be aged 18 or older to go LIVE," as our guide on going live on TikTok explains.

What if TikTok banned you for being underage?

Use the underage appeal. TikTok Support says it will "only use the information you submit to confirm your age and to inform you of our decision." It also notes that "Your date of birth isn't visible to others on TikTok." The appeal asks for proof of age. A March 2026 TikTok video lists a sign-up birthdate "that places the user under the required age" among the common reasons for these bans.

If you lost access to one feature, there's a separate appeal. TikTok's page says "If you believe your access to an age-restricted feature was incorrectly removed, let us know by submitting an appeal."

Why does TikTok make it so hard?

Because age decides which protections apply. NPR reported on October 20, 2026 that TikTok "also analyzes data associated with an account to identify those" who may be under age. A birthday you could edit freely would undo those checks. So the safest fix is to enter the right birthdate the first time.

If you post on TikTok, Hclout's free tier gives 25 free TikTok likes or 100 free TikTok views with no password, on the free page. A short Cloudflare check runs before each claim.
