You can schedule Instagram posts and Reels right in the app. Make the post as usual, open Advanced settings before you share, switch on Schedule this post, and pick a date and time. Instagram's Help Center says "If you have a public Instagram account, you can plan ahead by scheduling reels, photos and carousel posts from the Instagram app." Stories are the gap, and for those you'll need Meta Business Suite.

We read Instagram's and Meta's help pages as Google shows them on October 23, 2026. We didn't schedule a post on a live account.

How do you schedule a post on Instagram?

  1. Start a post or Reel. Tap Create, or the plus sign, and pick your photo or video.
  2. Edit it as usual. Add the caption, tags and music on the last screen.
  3. Open Advanced settings. Some app versions call it More options.
  4. Turn on Schedule this post. Then choose the date and time.
  5. Tap Schedule. It'll wait in your scheduled content until it goes out.

Smash Balloon's September 2026 guide gives the same order: "Tap Advanced settings before hitting Share," then "Toggle on Schedule this post."

Instagram's help page "How to create and manage scheduled posts and Reels," as Google showed it on October 23, 2026; Search Engine Journal, November 8, 2022; and Planable, Crowbert and Smash Balloon, 2026, as Google showed them.

The answers don't match. Instagram's own page says "You can schedule up to 25 posts a day, up to 30 days in advance." When scheduling arrived in November 2022, Search Engine Journal reported that business accounts could schedule "up to 75 days in advance." Many 2026 guides still give 75. Your app shows the real limit when you pick a date, so that's the one to trust.

How do you see your scheduled posts?

Go to your profile and tap Menu in the top right. The Help Center's steps for managing them start "Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile." From there, open Scheduled content. You can change the time, post it now, or delete it. SocialBee's guide says the same: "Go to Menu > Scheduled content to reschedule."

The Help Center adds that scheduled content "will retain the same privacy and audience settings" you had when you made it.

Can you schedule Instagram Stories?

You can't on a free account. Meta One's Advanced plan, from $49.99 a month, adds "scheduling stories up to 30 days in advance," Meta's September 15, 2026 post says. SocialBee's January 2026 guide says the built-in scheduler "does not support features like Stories, collaborations." Meta Business Suite does handle Stories. Meta's help page says "Go to Meta Business Suite. · Click Create story," then pick where it goes, such as your Instagram account. Meta describes the suite as a place to "create or schedule posts, stories and ads."
