"Who has the most subscribers on youtube" gets about 40,500 searches a month, and "most subscribed youtube channel" about 27,100.
How fast is MrBeast growing?
It's very fast. YouTube's own blog marked his 500 million on June 12, 2026, calling him "the first individual creator to reach 500 million subscribers on YouTube" that day. Wikipedia's list says he was "gaining an average of 133,000 subscribers per day" then. By October 23 he showed 523 million. That's about 23 million in 133 days, or roughly 170,000 a day, though YouTube's rounding makes that a rough figure.
He's the only channel past 400 or 500 million. Wikipedia counted 17 channels over 100 million in June 2026, three of them past 200 million: MrBeast, T-Series and Cocomelon.
Who had the most subscribers before MrBeast?
Twelve channels have held the record since May 2006, Wikipedia's history says. Smosh was first on the earliest list, with just 2,986 subscribers. The longest runs came later:
| Channel | Took the top spot | Days held |
|---|---|---|
| PewDiePie | December 23, 2013 | 1,920 |
| T-Series | April 14, 2019 | 1,876 |
| MrBeast | June 2, 2024 | 872 so far |
Wikipedia, "List of most-subscribed YouTube channels," read October 23, 2026.
YouTube's blog says MrBeast became the most subscribed individual creator in November 2022, before taking the top spot overall in June 2024. T-Series first passed PewDiePie on March 27, 2019. PewDiePie took it back for 13 days, and T-Series pulled clear on April 14. It was also the first channel to reach 100 million subscribers, on May 29, 2019.
Why do YouTube subscriber counts look rounded?
It's because YouTube shortens them in public. Its help page says counts between 100 million and 999,999,999 update only every 1,000,000 new subscribers. So "523M" means at least 523 million and fewer than 524 million. The channel's owner sees the exact number in YouTube Analytics.
Counts don't only go up, either. YouTube removes closed accounts and spam subscribers, which it describes as "subscribers gained through artificial means, such as purchasing subscribers through a third-party service."
