Telegram Premium: Price, Features and Is It Worth It

Telegram Premium is Telegram's paid add-on, and the free app stays free. On October 23, 2026, Apple's US App Store listed Telegram Premium at $4.99 and Telegram Premium Annual at $35.99, with a one-week plan at $1.19. That $4.99 is the monthly price in the US, as guides from InviteMember and Subpilot also report. You get doubled limits, 4 GB uploads, faster downloads, voice-to-text and no ads in channels. Telegram's FAQ calls it "an optional subscription service," and says the features that came before it "remain free to use."

We read Telegram's Premium FAQ, its 2022 launch post, its API docs and Telegram's App Store listing through our US server on October 23, 2026.

The bot works in the direct versions of Telegram's Android, Desktop and macOS apps. Prices also shift by country "to reflect local living standards," the FAQ says.

On top of the limits, Telegram's FAQ lists faster downloads, voice-to-text for voice and video messages, premium stickers, unique reactions, custom emoji, emoji statuses, animated profile pictures, a profile badge, premium app icons and real-time translation of chats and channels. It also hides ads. Telegram's Sponsored Messages "will be hidden for users that subscribe to Telegram Premium," but promo posts that channel admins publish themselves still show.

Free users get a little of it, too. "Anyone can download 4 GB files uploaded by premium users," the FAQ says, and they can tap premium reactions someone else already added.

Can you get Telegram Premium for free?

Yes, if it's a gift. Any subscriber can open your profile and send "a prepaid subscription for 3, 6 or 12 months," Telegram's FAQ says. Gifts use one global rate, so they'll work across countries. Channels also run giveaways that hand out Premium subscriptions, and Telegram's Stars terms list "gift subscriptions to Telegram Premium" as something Stars can buy. Our Telegram Stars guide covers what Stars cost.

Does Telegram Premium help a channel?

A channel can't subscribe, but it can collect boosts from subscribers who have Premium. "For each level they gain, channels can post 1 additional story per day and can add 1 more custom reaction," the FAQ says. A giveaway gives the channel "all 4 boosts from each Premium subscription that is given away." Admins who gift Premium get 3 boosts per gift. You'll find your boost link under Channel Settings > Statistics and Boosts > Boosts.

Telegram's own @premium channel had 6,422,255 subscribers when we checked on October 23, 2026.

Is Telegram Premium worth it?

It's worth it if you hit the free limits. That means files over 2 GB, more than 500 channels and groups, more than 10 folders, or you'd rather not see sponsored messages. If you don't, you'll lose very little. Telegram's FAQ says everything from before Premium stays free, "including unlimited cloud storage, large groups and channels, voice and video calls," along with multiple accounts.

How do you cancel Telegram Premium?

You'll cancel where you bought it. In @PremiumBot, send /stop. On an iPhone, go to Settings, then Apple ID Settings, then Subscriptions. On Google Play, tap your avatar and open Payments & subscription, then Subscriptions. You keep the features until the billing period ends. After that, your first 10 folders keep working, and any extra ones lock.
