Telegram Web: How to Use Telegram in Your Browser
Telegram Web runs Telegram in any browser. The two official addresses, how to log in with a QR code or your number, what works there and how to log out.
Telegram Web is Telegram in your browser. There's nothing to install: you open the site, log in, and your chats are there. Telegram runs two official web versions, WebK at web.telegram.org/k and WebA at web.telegram.org/a.
We read Telegram's apps page, its FAQ, its 2021 post on the web apps and both web apps' official code pages on October 24, 2026.
"Telegram web" gets about 16.6 million searches a month.
How do you log in to Telegram Web?
You'll need Telegram on your phone, or on another device that's already logged in.
With a QR code:
- Open web.telegram.org/k or web.telegram.org/a in your browser. It shows a QR code.
- On your phone, open Telegram and go to Settings, then Devices.
- Tap Link Desktop Device and point the camera at the code. Some Android versions call it Scan QR Code.
Those phone steps come from guides, as a web search summarized them. Telegram's FAQ doesn't list the menu names.
With your phone number: pick the phone number option on the login page and enter your number. If you're logged in somewhere else, Telegram may send the code as a Telegram message. The FAQ says you'll find it "in the chat with Telegram, a verified profile with a blue check."
If you've set a Two-Step Verification password, you'll type that, too.
What's the difference between WebK and WebA?
Both are official, free and open source. Telegram's apps page lists each one for "Mac, Windows, Linux, Mobile."
| App | Where | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Telegram WebK | web.telegram.org/k | Web version "based on Webogram, patched and improved" |
| Telegram WebA | web.telegram.org/a | Web version that won Telegram's lightweight client contest |
| Telegram Desktop | Download from telegram.org | App for Windows, macOS and Linux |
| Telegram for macOS | Mac App Store | Native Mac app, with secret chats |
Telegram's apps page and FAQ, and the WebK and WebA code pages, read October 24, 2026.
Telegram launched both new web apps on April 26, 2021, as Web K and Web Z. Its apps page lists the second one as WebA today. Both show the same chats, so try both and keep the one you like. There's no wrong pick.
What can you do on Telegram Web?
Most of what you do on your phone. Telegram's 2021 post said both apps support "animated stickers, dark mode, chat folders and more." Your cloud chats sync across every device. Telegram's FAQ says you can log in "from as many of your devices as you like," all at the same time.
The apps are light, too. Telegram said they needed only "a 400 KB download" and "no installation." Its first web version dates back to 2014.
You don't need your phone nearby, either. "Once you've logged in, you do not need to keep your phone nearby or connected to the internet," Telegram says.
What doesn't work on Telegram Web?
Secret chats. They're end-to-end encrypted and live only on the device where you started them. Telegram's FAQ says they "can only be accessed on their devices of origin" and are tied to that device's login session. So a secret chat from your phone won't show in your browser.
Everything else lives in Telegram's cloud: your private chats, groups and channels. That's why they appear on the web right away.
How do you log out of Telegram Web?
You can log out inside the web app. If you've left it logged in on someone else's computer, end it from your phone:
- Open Settings, then Devices. Some versions show it as Privacy & Security, then Active Sessions.
- Find the browser session and end it.
Telegram's FAQ gives that same path for a lost phone: "terminate your Telegram session on the old device." Turn on Two-Step Verification in Settings > Privacy & Security, too. Then a login code alone won't be enough to get into your account.

Is there a Telegram app for PC?
Yes. Telegram Desktop runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and Telegram for macOS is a separate native Mac app. Telegram's FAQ says the Mac app "has every feature from the iOS version of the app including Secret Chats."
The web version's handy on a computer you don't own or can't install on. On your own computer, the desktop app runs on its own, outside the browser.
