TikTok Lite: What It Is and How It's Different
TikTok Lite is a smaller TikTok for slow networks and older Android phones. How it differs from TikTok, where it's available, iPhone, and its rewards in the EU.
TikTok Lite is a smaller version of TikTok. TikTok calls it "a data-light version of the main TikTok app," built to "use less data, and work efficiently on slow networks and with older and less powerful smartphones." Outside Japan and Korea, it's only on Android. There's a second TikTok Lite in Japan and Korea, too, and that one's a different product.

You still get the same main feeds. TikTok's help lists the For You page, Following, Search, profiles and a Mini Drama feed in Lite.
What does TikTok Lite do?
TikTok's Google Play listing calls it "the compact, faster version of TikTok." It's aimed at "users with entry level devices, limited data plans or unstable networks." The listing names these features:
- Data Saver: "Save up to 20% on data usage while streaming videos"
- Offline Mode: watch cached videos on slow or unstable networks
- Smaller app size and faster loading on older phones
- Creating: record videos up to 3 minutes, or upload clips up to 15 minutes
- Editing: music, effects, filters, voiceovers, green screen, duets and photo mode

How popular is TikTok Lite?
Very. On October 24, 2026, its Google Play listing in the UK store showed:

The same listing address didn't open from Google Play's US store that day. TikTok's help says Lite is available across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, though. Check your own store to see if it's offered where you live.
Is TikTok Lite on iPhone?
Not the data-light one. TikTok's help says plainly that it's "only available in Android operating system."
The Japan and Korea version is on iPhone. TikTok describes it as "a short video product launched for users over 18 years old," with "localized gameplay with points" and a Task page. It's only available in those two countries.
Some download sites list a TikTok Lite for iPhone. Those listings may be the Japan and Korea app, since TikTok's own help rules out an iPhone version anywhere else.
Does TikTok Lite pay you to watch videos?
Not in the EU. TikTok launched Lite in France and Spain in April 2024 with a "Task and Reward Program." The European Commission said it let users "earn points while performing certain 'tasks'" such as watching videos, liking content, following creators and inviting friends.
The Commission worried about its "addictive effect," especially for children. The case moved fast:

TikTok also committed "not to launch any other programme which would circumvent the withdrawal." It was the first case the Commission closed under the Digital Services Act, 105 days after it opened.
