Best Clipping Apps in 2026: Prices, Free Plans and Watermarks
We compared 9 clipping apps from their App Store listings: monthly prices from $4.99, which free plans watermark your clips, and why TikTok cares.
The best clipping app depends on the job. An AI clip maker like OpusClip or Vizard cuts long videos into shorts for you, an editor like CapCut or InShot lets you cut by hand, and Medal records game clips. We compared nine apps from their App Store listings on October 22, 2026. Their cheapest monthly plans run from $4.99 to $29.99. Watch the free plans: OpusClip's, Vizard's and Medal's put a watermark on your clips, and TikTok counts "someone else's visible watermark" as unoriginal.
We read each app's US App Store listing and in-app prices, plus the pricing pages that show the free limits. We didn't test the output.
What is a clipping app?
It's an app that turns long videos into short clips. Clippers use four kinds.
- AI clip makers pick the moments for you: OpusClip and Vizard, or Eklipse for stream highlights.
- Caption apps add the animated subtitles most clips carry: Captions, or Submagic on the web.
- Editors let you cut by hand: CapCut, InShot and VN.
- Game and stream clippers record or repost play: Medal records game clips, and Cross Clip, from Streamlabs, edits and cross-posts live stream clips.
How much do clipping apps cost?

| Vizard | AI clip maker | $29.99 |
| Eklipse | Stream highlights | $27.99 |
| Captions | AI captions | $9.99 |
| CapCut | Editor | $7.99 |

The cheapest monthly in-app purchase in each app's US App Store listing, October 22, 2026. Most of them also sell yearly plans.
All but one are rated 4.6 or higher in the App Store. Eklipse is the exception, at 3.85 from 1,153 ratings. The biggest by far are InShot, with 2,513,893 ratings, and CapCut, with 1,124,620. InShot also sells a lifetime plan for $49.99.
Two more things showed up in the store. Cross Clip's iPhone app hasn't been updated since September 25, 2024. And a search for Submagic or Klap found no app from either company. The one "Submagic ai" listing came from an individual developer, with one rating. Submagic sells its plans on its website, from $19 a month billed monthly. Check the seller's name before you download any app.
Which free clipping apps add a watermark?
Three of the free plans we checked stamp your clips.
| App | Free plan | Watermark |
|---|---|---|
| OpusClip | 60 credits a month, 1080p | Yes |
| Vizard | 60 minutes a month, 720p | Yes |
| Medal | Free app | Yes |
Each app's pricing page, read October 22, 2026. OpusClip's free clips expire after 3 days, and Vizard keeps free videos for 3 days. Vizard counts 1 credit as 1 minute of video.
On TikTok, that matters. TikTok's originality page lists "Content with someone else's visible watermark or superimposed logo" as unoriginal, and it says such content "may be removed from the For You feed." So a free-plan watermark can cost a clip its reach.
Removing it costs $15 a month on OpusClip's Starter plan, $29.99 for Vizard's Creator plan in the App Store, or $6.99 and up for Medal Gold. Medal says Gold lets you "download your clips without the watermark."
Which clipping app is best for each job?
We didn't test clip quality, so these picks rest on price, rating and limits.
- Cutting long videos into shorts: OpusClip has the higher rating of the two AI clip makers, 4.85 from 8,305 ratings, and the lower starting price, $15 a month.
- Captions: Captions costs $9.99 a month in the App Store. Submagic, on the web, starts at $19.
- Editing by hand on a phone: InShot starts at $4.99 a month, or $49.99 once. CapCut and VN start at $7.99.
- Game clips: Medal is free with a watermark, or from $6.99 a month with Gold.
- Stream highlights: Eklipse starts at $27.99 a month, and it's the lowest rated app in this list.
Do you need a paid clipping app for campaigns?
Not to start. Campaigns pay for views, and the median live campaign on Content Rewards paid $1.00 per 1,000 views on October 22, 2026. At that rate, a $15 plan pays for itself after about 16,700 views, once the 10% fee is taken.
If you post to TikTok, the watermark is the limit that matters most. Whatever app you use, add your own edit: TikTok drops "Reused or unoriginal content posted without creative edits" from the For You feed. Our guides to TikTok clipping and YouTube clipping cover each platform's rules. And keep growth services, ours included, off any account you use for campaigns, since Content Rewards bans bought views and followers for good.
