How Much Does YouTube Pay? What YouTube Says and What Creators Earn
YouTube pays 55% of long-form ad revenue and 45% of a Shorts pool share, with no set rate per view. RPM explained, and what 1 million views can earn.
YouTube pays creators in its Partner Program a share of the money their videos bring in, and it publishes no rate per view. The shares are fixed: 55% of the ad revenue on long-form videos, 45% of your slice of the Shorts pool, and 70% of fan funding like memberships. What that comes to per view is your RPM, your revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube's share. Popular 2026 guides put long-form RPM at $1 to $20, and one says most channels sit at $2 to $5. At that rate, 1 million views would bring $2,000 to $5,000.
We read YouTube's own help pages and its August 10, 2026 announcement on October 23, 2026, along with the guides that rank for the question. Hclout, the site you're reading, doesn't sell YouTube services.
How much does YouTube pay creators?
| Money source | Creator's share |
|---|---|
| Ads on long-form videos | 55% |
| Ads in the Shorts Feed | 45% of your pool share |
| Memberships and Super Chat | 70% |
| YouTube Premium | 55% or 45% of a pool |
YouTube Help, "YouTube partner earnings overview," and the YouTube Blog post of August 10, 2026, read October 23, 2026. Fan funding also covers Super Stickers and Super Thanks.
YouTube is plain that nothing is promised. "There are no guarantees under the YouTube partner agreement about how much or whether you'll be paid," its earnings page says. Premium money goes into its own pool first. That's 30% of net subscription revenue for Premium and 60% for Premium Lite, shared out at 55% for long-form and 45% for Shorts.
How much does YouTube pay per view?
Each channel's rate is different, and YouTube shows it as RPM: "how much money you've earned per 1,000 video views," in its words. RPM counts revenue after YouTube's share, and it counts every view, even the ones that showed no ad. That's why it sits below CPM, the price advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. "Your revenue will not be equal to your CPM times your views," YouTube's help page warns.
Since YouTube gives no rate, guides collect what creators report:
| Guide | Long-form | Shorts |
|---|---|---|
| 1of10, Aug. 2026 | $1 to $20, most $2 to $5 | $0.04 to $0.15 |
| Hootsuite, Oct. 2026 | $2 to $10 | $0.01 to $0.06 |
| Graphy, May 2026 | $2 to $12 | Not given |
| Influencer Marketing Hub, Oct. 2026 | $18 | Not given |
RPM per 1,000 views, from each guide's own page or as Google shows it, read October 23, 2026. All are estimates from creators' reports.
Per view, that's a fraction of a cent. At $2 to $5 RPM, one view earns $0.002 to $0.005.
How much does YouTube pay for 1 million views?
| Views | At $2 RPM | At $5 RPM |
|---|---|---|
| 100,000 | $200 | $500 |
| 1 million | $2,000 | $5,000 |
Our arithmetic: views times RPM, divided by 1,000. The $2 to $5 range is where 1of10 says most channels sit.
Other guides land in the same area. Most creators earn "between $1,000 and $5,000 for 1 million views," StudioBinder says. But the spread between channels is wide. "The same 100,000 views pay one channel $150 and another $1,500," 1of10 found. It names the topic of the channel as the biggest factor, then where the viewers live. YouTube's own help adds the time of year, since advertisers bid more before the holidays.
How much do YouTube Shorts pay?
Shorts pay from a pool. Each month, YouTube adds up the ad revenue from the Shorts Feed, sets part aside for music licensing, and splits the rest by each creator's share of engaged views. You keep 45% of what's allocated to you.
YouTube's help page runs a hypothetical. A country has 100 million engaged Shorts views and a $90,000 creator pool. A Short with 1 million engaged views gets 1% of the pool, $900, and the creator keeps $405. The creator-reported Shorts RPMs in the guides above are lower, from $0.01 to $0.15 per 1,000.
How much money do you make with 1,000 subscribers?
YouTube pays for views and paid features, and subscribers count toward the entry rules. With 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days, or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, you can apply for ad revenue. From 500 subscribers, fan funding like memberships can open up.
Our guide to YouTube monetization requirements covers both tiers and the higher bar for new creators from February 1, 2027.
When does YouTube pay you?
YouTube adds last month's finalized earnings to your AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th. It pays out by the 21st to 26th, once your balance reaches your local payment threshold and there are no holds on your account. You'll also need to give Google your U.S. tax info, wherever you live.
Do fake or bought views earn money?
YouTube's rules say no. "Page traffic found to be artificial will not be counted on YouTube and can lead to strikes on your account," its fake engagement policy says. Its Shorts rules list "Artificial or fake views of Shorts, such as from automated click or scroll bots" among views that don't earn. And since August 24, 2026, YouTube counts a view the moment a video starts, but its earnings still use "engaged views" and "engaged watch hours" as the base.
Hclout doesn't sell YouTube views or subscribers. Our free tier covers other apps, with 100 free TikTok views and 12 free Instagram likes on the free page.
