To save a TikTok video to your phone, open it, tap the Share button and tap Save video. You'll only see that option if the creator allows downloads. "Only posts with download permissions turned on will display this," TikTok's support center says. If you just want to keep a video to watch again inside the app, save it to your Favorites instead.

We read TikTok's support and download pages as Google showed them on October 23, 2026. TikTok's support site builds its pages with scripts our reader can't run, so the steps are quoted from Google's view of them.

How do you download a TikTok video to your phone?

TikTok's support center gives three steps:

  1. "In the TikTok app, go to the post."
  2. "Tap the Share button."
  3. "Tap Save photo or Save video."

For photo posts with several images, TikTok's help adds that you can "tap Select all" to save them together. TikTok says you can save posts "for offline viewing and sharing if the post creator allows others to download their content."

"How to download tiktok videos" gets about 27,100 searches a month, and "how to save tiktok videos" another 5,400.

Why can't you save a TikTok video?

There are two usual reasons:

  • The creator turned downloads off. Then Save video doesn't appear in the Share menu.
  • The creator is under 16. TikTok's guardian guide says that for those accounts, "Downloading posts is not available."

How do you find saved videos on TikTok?

They're in your Favorites. TikTok's own topic page says a saved video can be found "in your Favorites collection." Favorites is the in-app option for keeping a video, and it doesn't put a copy on your phone.

How do you stop people downloading your TikTok videos?

Turn downloads off in your privacy settings. TikTok creators' 2026 walkthroughs point to Settings and privacy, then Privacy, and a Downloads switch, though they note the label "may vary by app version." A private account also stops it. On a private account, "Other people won't be able to Duet with, Stitch with, or download your videos," TikTok says. Our guide to making your TikTok private covers that.

Saving your own videos

You can save your own posts the same way. TikTok "lets you download your content and other people's videos if they allow public downloads," as Newsweek put it. If you're about to delete one, save it first. Our guide to deleting a TikTok video covers the 30-day window for getting it back. Hclout sells TikTok views, so weigh that the way you'd weigh any seller, and its free tier gives 100 free TikTok views on a public video, with no password, on the free page. A short Cloudflare check runs before each claim.
