How to See Recent Followers on Instagram
Your new followers show in your activity. Someone else's recent follows don't: Instagram cut that view in 2019. What trackers really see, and the risks.
Your own new followers show up in your activity, the heart part of Instagram. Someone else's recent follows are harder. Instagram removed the only built-in way to see them, the Following activity tab, in October 2019. Tracker sites fill that gap now, but they only work on public accounts, and they only know follows made after they started watching.
We read the 2019 reports, the trackers' own pages and Google's results for this search on November 3, 2026. Instagram's Help Center blocks our reader, so its words here are the ones Google shows. About 135,000 people a month search for "recent followers instagram," and as many for "recently followed instagram."
How do you see your own new followers?
- Check your activity. Tap the heart. In 2019, Engadget called it "the same part of Instagram's interface where you see likes and new followers for your account."
- Use Insights for a count. On a business or creator account, Insights list "Growth (number of followers you've gained or lost)," Instagram's Help Center says. You get numbers, not names.
- Compare two data exports. Export your followers list twice, some days apart. As Unfollow Checker puts it, "two exports from different dates show missing and new followers." Our guide to seeing who unfollowed you has the export steps.

Can you see who someone else recently followed?
Not inside Instagram anymore. Until October 2019, the Following tab showed "any new accounts they may have added," Engadget reported. Instagram removed it that month. Its Vishal Shah said "People didn't always know that their activity is surfacing."
You can still open a public account's Following list. But Instagram doesn't say what order that list is in, so you can't tell the newest follow just by looking.
How do recent follow trackers work?
They read a public account's Following list, keep a copy and read it again later. DolphinRadar says its first read "becomes the starting point, and any new accounts found after that will appear" as updates. So a tracker can't show who someone followed before it started watching.
They also stop at private accounts. Recently Followed simply answers "This account is private." FollowSpy shows follows "in chronological order," but that order is the tracker's own, built from when it first saw each one.
Are tracker sites safe?
We read Google's first 18 results for this search on November 3, 2026. Eleven were trackers.

Two things to know before you use one. First, never give a tracker your Instagram password. Instagram's Help Center says "Be careful before giving third party apps or websites access to your Instagram account." Our guide on sites that ask for your password explains why.
Second, Instagram's terms bar "accessing or collecting information in an automated way without our express permission." A tracker reads lists again and again, so it's worth knowing that rule before you count on one.
Can people see when you follow someone new?
The account you follow gets told, in its own activity. Beyond that, there's no feed of your new follows for others since the Following tab went away in 2019. If your account's public, though, anyone can open your Following list, and trackers can read it.
