Spotify DJ: The AI DJ and DJ Software
How to use Spotify's AI DJ, from requests to languages, and how to mix Spotify in rekordbox, Serato or djay. Both need Premium.
"Spotify DJ" means two things. Inside the app, DJ is Spotify's AI host. It's a mix picked from your listening, with short spoken commentary, and you can type or talk to change it. Spotify also works inside DJ software such as rekordbox, Serato and djay, so you can mix its songs yourself. Both need Premium.

About 27,100 people search "spotify dj" each month, and 8,100 search "spotify rekordbox." DJ has grown fast. Spotify said in May 2026 that it had reached "94 million Spotify Premium users" since its 2023 launch.
How do you use Spotify's AI DJ?
- On Home, tap DJ, or search "DJ" in Search.
- Press play. DJ lines up songs, with short commentary between them.
- To change what plays, type a request in the text box, tap to talk, or pick one of your suggestions.
You'll also find DJ in the Now Playing view. Tap the chat window while something is playing.
What can you ask Spotify DJ?

DJ can also do small jobs, like "Set a sleep timer" or "Turn on a private session."
Why isn't Spotify DJ showing up?
If DJ isn't there, check three things:
- Premium. Spotify's DJ page is marked "For: Premium."
- Your country. DJ is in "over 75 markets worldwide," Spotify said in May 2026. That isn't every country.
- Your language. "DJ is currently available in a limited number of languages," Spotify says.
DJ also started on phones. In 2023 Spotify told users to open "the Spotify mobile app on your iOS/iPhone or Android device" to find it.
Which languages does Spotify DJ speak?
The English DJ, "X," is modeled on Xavier Jernigan, Spotify's Head of Cultural Partnerships. Livi, the Spanish DJ, came in July 2024. On May 7, 2026, Spotify added French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese.
To switch, open DJ, tap the menu, tap DJ language and pick one.

Yes, if you've got Premium. Log in to Spotify inside the DJ app, pick tracks and mix.

Spotify sets some limits:
- You can mix up to 4 tracks at once.
- It won't work offline.
- You edit playlists in the Spotify app, and audiobooks, videos, albums and artist pages stay out of DJ software.
- It's for personal use. "Public performance, including playing mixes in clubs, venues, events, or livestreams isn't permitted," Spotify says.

Yes. Tap to talk, or type a request. Voice requests started in May 2025 and typed ones in October 2025.

Can you use Spotify with rekordbox or Serato?
Yes, with Premium. You can use rekordbox on phones and computers, and Serato on computers.

No. Spotify's rules bar public performance, including clubs, venues, events and livestreams.
