TikTok Shop Affiliate: Requirements and How to Join
TikTok Shop affiliates need 1,000 followers, must be 18 and US-based, and pass identity checks. The three creator types, how to apply, and how commissions work.
To become a TikTok Shop affiliate in the US, you'll need at least 1,000 followers, you must be 18 or older and based in the US, and you have to pass TikTok's identity check. TikTok Shop's Creator Eligibility Policy, updated September 25, 2026, says affiliate creators must "Self-apply to be a TikTok Shop creator" and "Have a minimum of 1,000 followers." Once you're in, you earn a commission on orders from the products you promote in videos, on LIVE and in your showcase. You'll apply from TikTok Studio, under Monetization.

TikTok also says creators "Must not be a Government, Politician, or Political Party Account," and must follow the TikTok Shop Content Policy, the Community Guidelines and the Creator Code of Conduct. It adds that new creators "may enter a 30-day pilot with posting limits."

Affiliates get the TikTok Shop Product Marketplace, where they're free to pick products from many sellers. TikTok says Official Shop Creators "can only promote products from the bound TikTok Shop," and a Marketing account needs "at least 5,000 followers" to promote other sellers' products. Some guides still say affiliates need 5,000 followers. TikTok's own pages say 1,000.
How do you join TikTok Shop as an affiliate?
- Reach 1,000 followers on an account based in the US.
- Open TikTok Studio. TikTok's path is "TikTok Studio > Monetization > TikTok Shop for Creator > Join now."
- Verify your age. TikTok says you "must confirm your age within 2 months of registration," with up to 15 attempts.
- Pass identity verification. You'll take photos of a government ID and "3 real-time selfies with your head turned" if you choose that method.
- Pick products and post. Add product links to videos, show them on LIVE or add them to your showcase.

How do TikTok Shop affiliates make money?
You earn a commission when people buy through your product links. TikTok's page says creators can "earn commissions for orders made through your TikTok Shop product promotions." It lists three places to sell: "Displaying products on their TikTok profile page," shoppable links in videos, and "Promoting products during TikTok LIVEs." TikTok's pages point to its "collaborations and commissions" guide for the details, so check each product's rate in the marketplace before you promote it.
Can you lose TikTok Shop access?
Yes. TikTok says "violations can restrict or permanently remove e-commerce access." Its eligibility rules also turn away anyone with "a prior record of having e-commerce permissions revoked," and accounts "associated with" revoked ones.
