Instaswell.com, an Instagram bot archived since 2014, has shown a server error since August 2024. The dated record, and a working alternative.
Instaswell was an Instagram bot at instaswell.com, and its site has shown a server error since August 2024. The Internet Archive first saved its home page on September 4, 2014. The last copy that loaded is from September 25, 2023. From August 13, 2024 on, each time the archive reached the site, it got the same error page. Our own check on October 22, 2026 got an error too. Someone still pays for the name, though: the domain runs to October 3, 2027.
Quick Answer: Instaswell.com doesn't work, and we found no notice saying why. Its home page has returned an HTTP 502 error since August 2024, and its last app page loaded in March 2025. What was Instaswell?
It was a bot that worked an Instagram account for its owner. We didn't open the archived pages for this update. The list of addresses the archive saved still tells the story. The dashboard had pages called followers, following, hashtags, comments and lists. Its task pages, saved from 2015 to 2017, include two for new tasks: follow_like and unfollow.
That's the old bot routine. The bot follows people and likes their posts, hoping some follow back, and later unfollows. Fstoppers described the same thing in 2017: "an app doing follow/unfollow, like, and comment actions."
The site also had an FAQ page and a terms page, both archived from 2017 to August 23, 2019. Plan names, prices and a customer count went around on other pages, this one included. We couldn't check them against Instaswell's own pages, so they're gone from here.

The Internet Archive's copies of the instaswell.com home page, counted by year on October 24, 2026. A copy "loaded" when the site answered with HTTP 200.
The archive saved the home page 455 times while it still loaded, 306 of them in 2015 and 2016. How often the archive calls depends on its own crawlers, so the counts don't say anything about customers. The turn is plain, though: 4 good copies in 2023, then none.
Why did Instaswell stop working?
Nothing on record says. We found no shutdown notice, statement or press story about it. What the record does show is the pressure on Instagram bots in those years:
- May 13, 2017: Fstoppers reported that "Instagram recently launched a witch hunt and managed to get Instagress to close down." It added that Mass Planner was "taken down" the day before. Our pages on Instagress and Mass Planner have the details.
- November 19, 2018: Instagram said it would start "removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity."
- April 25, 2019: Facebook and Instagram sued a company and three people in New Zealand. The defendants "operated a service that provided fake likes, views and followers to Instagram users," Meta wrote.
Instagram's terms still rule bots out. "You can't attempt to create accounts or access or collect information in unauthorized ways," they say, as a web search showed them on October 24, 2026. "This includes creating accounts or collecting information in an automated way without our express permission."
Instaswell's site outlived all of that. Its home page still loaded in 2023, and two app pages loaded on its subdomains. The first 502 error in the record came at api.instaswell.com, on June 21, 2024. The home page followed on August 13, 2024. The two app pages kept loading until February 23 and March 21, 2025.

Is instaswell.com still working?
No. On October 22, 2026, our server got an HTTP 502 answer and a page titled "We're sorry, but something went wrong (500)." The archive's copies of its error page, from August 13, 2024 to August 29, 2026, are all identical.
The name is still registered. Verisign's registry shows instaswell.com registered on October 3, 2013, last changed on September 18, 2026, and running to October 3, 2027. It's held through REG.RU, a registrar in Moscow. The registrar's record leaves the owner's name and address blank.
A scam-check site still shows a verdict on the domain from a scan it dates "2 years ago," as we read it on October 24, 2026. Read old verdicts like that one as history.
What an earlier version of this page got wrong
It said Instaswell "shut down in 2019." The record shows its home page loading until September 2023, and its app pages until March 2025. Whether the bot still ran tasks in those years, the record doesn't say. It also said "hundreds of people every month" searched for it, where Keyword Planner gives about 10. And it said the site "loads a blank React app shell." On October 22, 2026, it loaded an error page.
