What Happened to Mass Planner?

Mass Planner was a Windows program that scheduled posts and automated follows, likes and comments on seven networks, Instagram among them. It went offline on May 12, 2017. Days later its homepage said "at the request of Instagram we have been forced to close our service." It hasn't come back. In 2020 the notice gave way to a page reading "Nothing to see here," and since February 2023 the domain has carried a blog.

Quick Answer: Mass Planner closed for good in May 2017, and its notice cited a request from Instagram. Old copies have nothing to sign in to, because the program checked your account with a system that closed with it. What did Mass Planner do?

It ran on your own Windows PC and did two jobs. It scheduled posts on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Instagram, and it automated actions there. For Instagram, its features page of May 1, 2017 listed "Auto Follow, FollowBack and Unfollow" and "Auto Like and Comment Photos." A "Spinning syntax editor" varied the wording of comments.

It had to stay open. "Mass Planner needs to run continuously on your machine," its homepage said, so plenty of users ran it on a rented Windows server. It also let you run "each Social account on its own unique proxy so you don't leave an IP footprint."

You got a 5-day free trial. The Standard plan covered "up to 16 social accounts (2 for each platform)," and add-ons were one-time payments: 8 more accounts per network for $15, 15 more for $25, or unlimited for $70. The Premium plan included everything and renewed at $19.95 a month or $84.95 for six months, by its FAQ of May 1, 2017. Payment went through PayPal.

Why did Mass Planner shut down?

Its own words point at Instagram. "Due to a request from Instagram, we were forced to shut down our services," its email to customers said, as a Reddit post quoted it on May 13, 2017. The homepage notice said the same thing and promised more: "We will provide more information as soon as we can."

No more came. By May 29, 2017 the notice was down to one line, "Our service has been permanently discontinued." Neither notice says what Instagram asked for, and we didn't find a statement from Instagram about Mass Planner itself.

The press saw a wave. Fstoppers wrote on May 13, 2017 that Instagram had "managed to get Instagress to close down," and that "Yesterday, another big bot service, Mass Planner, was taken down." It called Mass Planner "the most used service along with Instagress." Instagram had been "cracking down on such businesses" for seven weeks, The New York Times reported on June 6, 2017.

Is Jarvee the same as Mass Planner?

We didn't find a source that ties them. Jarvee was another Windows automation program, and neither company has said they're connected.

The dates and the wording are close, though. jarvee.com was registered on March 25, 2017, seven weeks before Mass Planner closed. Its first archived homepage, from August 13, 2017, called it "a Windows based social media automation software" that "needs to run continuously on your machine," with a 5-day free trial. Jarvee closed in 2022, and its site now says "We regret to inform you that Jarvee is permanently closed." Our Jarvee page covers its end.

What is massplanner.com now?

A blog. From June 2020 to at least January 2023, the site showed only "Nothing to see here." By February 22, 2023 it was a blog, and on October 23, 2026 its title read "Mass Planner | A blog about social media and achieving online success." Its newest posts, from June and August 2026, review a phone-automation app. The domain is registered through March 3, 2028. We didn't find a download or login for the old program there.

Can you still use an old copy?

Not in any useful way. By its FAQ, the program signed in with your Mass Planner account and checked whether its status was "Trial, Active Subscription or Disabled." That account system closed in May 2017.

A cracked copy skips the check, but it's code that hasn't changed since 2017, from a download site you can't vet. We wouldn't run one. Instagram also said in 2018 that it would begin "removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity." Automated follows, likes and comments are exactly what that line describes.
