To delete your Snapchat account, log in to the Snapchat accounts portal at accounts.snapchat.com, tap Delete my account, enter your password and tap Continue. On an iPhone, you can start in the app instead: open Settings from your profile, scroll to Account Actions and tap Delete Account. Snapchat first deactivates the account for 30 days, and you can still come back during that time. "After 30 more days, the account will be permanently deleted," Snapchat's support site says.

We read Snapchat's support articles on deleting, reactivating, downloading data and canceling Snapchat+ through our server on October 23, 2026. We didn't delete an account ourselves.

"How to delete snapchat account" gets about 60,500 searches a month, and "how to delete snapchat account permanently" another 8,100.

How do you delete your Snapchat account?

Snapchat's support site gives these steps for Android and the web:

  1. "Log in to the Snapchat accounts portal"
  2. "Tap 'Delete my account'"
  3. "Input your password"
  4. "Tap 'Continue' to confirm account deactivation/deletion"

On an iPhone, it starts in the app:

  1. Tap the gear button on your profile screen to open Settings.
  2. "Scroll down to 'Account Actions'"
  3. "Tap 'Delete Account'"

That opens the same accounts portal, where you finish with your password and tap Continue.

Forgot your password? "If you're having trouble logging in to the accounts portal because you forgot your password, you can reset it," Snapchat says.

Your data follows the same clock. "After you deactivate or delete your account, you will have 30 days to download your data," Snapchat says. If you don't log in or download it in that time, "your data will be permanently deleted after 60 days."

Some guides cut the wait short. Ghostery's guide, sixth on Google for "how to delete snapchat account" on October 23, 2026, says the account is deleted after 30 days. Snapchat's own page gives 30 days of deactivation, then 30 more.

Snapchat keeps a few things either way. "Some deleted account data is retained for legal, security, and business needs," its support site says, like "information about any purchases you may have made through Snapchat."

How do you reactivate a Snapchat account?

"To reactivate your account, just log in to the Snapchat app with the username of the account that you want to bring back," Snapchat's support site says. You've got 30 days. Two catches:

  • Use your username. "You cannot change your password or use your email address/phone number to log in to your account while it's deactivated."
  • Only you can do it. "Snapchat Support cannot reactivate it for you," and "Permanently deleted accounts cannot be reactivated at all."

"How to reactivate snapchat account" gets about 5,400 searches a month, up 7%.

What should you do before you delete?

  1. Download your data. In the app, go to Settings and select My Data, or log in at accounts.snapchat.com and click My Data. Pick what to include, confirm your email and click Submit. "We'll send you an email with a link once your data is ready to download," Snapchat says.
  2. Save your Memories. Under Select data to include, turn on Export your Memories, then click Request Only Memories, Snapchat's steps say.
  3. Cancel Snapchat+. Snapchat says to cancel "through the iOS App Store," "through the Google Play Store," or "via the Snapchat accounts portal," depending on where you signed up. Do it before you delete.
  4. Know you'll vanish from chats. A Reddit answer from April 2024 says that once the account's deleted, "you'll disappear from everyone's chats."

Forgot to download first? You've still got 30 days after deleting, by Snapchat's rules.

Deleting your other accounts too?

Our guides cover the same steps for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Telegram. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Snapchat each give you 30 days to change your mind. Telegram gives you none.
